| . | Getting real in 2012 about segmenting countries jobs: Germany needs to understand the advantages of being different
from the rest of Europe not force what makes it economical on others; it also needs to get real about inviting other europeean
nations to reduce their spends on defence while increasing its. UK needs to demand that those who help promote the olympics
reduce spends on ads (the least economical media and collaborate in job creating media); it also needs to take Sir Ronald
Cohen's lead in demonstrating how 100 billion dolars of charitable assets can actionably invest in youth now instead of maintain
ivory towers. Spain needs to be led by Queen Sofia's love of youth job creation not politicians cutting investments in youth;
Belgium as epicentre of the drive to www.entrepreneurialunion.com m needs to join in partnerships which involve youth in searching out which social solutions to produce in which communities;
France (with europe's portals to how microcredit and global partnering in sustainability) and scotland (with a love of nurses
and girl power and journals search to renew community through celebrating social action: service by the people for the people
) can help belgium> Moreover, the dna of entrepreneurial revolution began with these auld allies in late 18th century and
has been joyously renewed by these countries partnerships with dr yunus over the last 7 years. Austria can be an interesting
mediator of potential conflicts between all of the above | . |
Extract
from the presentation at the EU's summit on Social Business (Nov 2011) from Austrian
Boris Marte
, Managing Director of the Erste Foundation:When we talk about social entrepreneur, what are we talking about in European context of this discussion?
Let me focus on 3 issues
1 European
welfare systems, live as we all know, on the costs of future generation- this is important to understand we all live because
we put leverage on future generations – its easy to make these budget decisions because we have someone
on the table who is not existing yet
2 We have unsolved social issues- now if we had social welfare systems that were affordable sustainable
probably we would not be sitting here
3 There is huge disillusionment especially in young generations about the economical and political setting –
and actually do we really trust these institutions that they are able to resolve these issues
These questions matter for keeping civic human society functioning, but also for functioning of
our democracy
So social entrepreneur will happen because we don’t have an alternative- we need these
sources of individual personal commitment and solidarity to solve the European issues of the future; we cannot rely anymore
on big institutional settings it has got to come from the grassroots and touch these issues and change them
Moreover in Europe east welfare need this innovation push and we must start using entrepreneurial thinking to address
social challenges
To make this effective a broad range of funding and support services need
to be offered BUT we need a holistic approach because of course we need grants, of course we need equity,
of course we need debt funding BUT we need integrated by a collaborative framework
